The Giving Cup
Workshop series for caregivers will present: How to Choose the Right Nursing Home for Your Loved One.
This workshop will feature guest speaker Jody Guidry with the Louisiana Nursing Home Association and will be held on Friday, August 27th from 10:00am-11:00am in the Hospice of Acadiana Conference Center at 2600 Johnston Street.

New Volunteer Training
The next volunteer training for Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. will be September 27, 2010. All interested persons wishing to be volunteers for Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. must fill out information prior to the training. Additionally, prospective volunteers must be interviewed prior to the training.
If you are interested in attending training, please call Ann Wallace at 337.237.1332, ext. 3732 or Eura Marks, ext. 3733, by September 22, 2010.
If you are already a Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. volunteer and would like further training for the Pastoral component, the Pastoral Training will be in October 2010. Please contact Ann Wallace or Eura Marks if interested.

Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. Celebrates Hospice Month
On November 16, 2009, Hospice of Acadiana honored its 400 volunteers and celebrated hospice month at the Petroleum Club in Lafayette. We happily honored the efforts of our employees volunteers and how their valiant efforts help us to aid the community of Acadiana.
George Olivier, volunteer, won the Jewell Lowe award for service.
Mary Lahey, LPC, LMFT, staff, won the Leslie Lancon award.
Mollie Vincent, volunteer, won the Carolyn Patin award for service.
Harold Chastant, MD, won the Jerome Romagosa award for service.
All of the award winners were voted on by staff members of Hospice of Acadiana, Inc.
Additionally an award of a crystal bowl emblazoned with the logo of Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. was presented to Nelson Waguespack, outgoing CEO, by the staff of Hospice of Acadiana.
R.M. Trout, EdD, incoming CEO of Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. was formally introduced to the volunteers of Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. Dr. Trout officially takes the helm of the organization on January 1, 2010.
Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. honored as Point of Light Organization
Friday, October 16, 2009, CEO Nelson Waguespack, Jr. represented Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. as an agency recognized as a Point of Light organization for 20 years at a Presidential Forum on Service at Texas A&M in College Station, Texas. Present for the celebration of service was former President George H.W. Bush, former President George W. Bush and current President Barak Obama.
The event was to commemorate the 20th Anniversary of the vision of a thousand "Points of Light” invoked by President George H. W. Bush in 1989. Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. was recognized and celebrated as the 333rd Point of Light agency for its commitment to serving the dying patients in Acadiana and ensuring the support for families, loved ones and community members by dedicated and professional staff plus over 500 volunteers.

Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. was voted as the Non Profit of the Year for the 2nd year in a row by the Times of Acadiana 2009 Readers' Poll.
The staff and volunteers of Hospice of Acadiana, Inc. are truly honored to walk with the patients of Hospice of Acadiana and their families on this journey.
