Volunteers make a difference.

Volunteers spend time with our patients, providing companionship and a comforting presence. They enable caregivers to take breaks and support families by providing transportation and running errands. They help out with household chores such as feeding and walking pets.

Volunteers who are also veterans may wish to serve in our Vet-to-Vet program. In addition to typical volunteer activities, these volunteers educate and assist patients who apply for veterans' benefits. They help patients replace lost medals and participate in pinning ceremonies.

Some volunteers prefer not to be directly involved with patient care. They may provide administrative and clerical support, participate in community events, sew handmade gowns, crochet prayer blankets, or bake cookies for patients and their families.

Our volunteers are trained and specially selected for duty in the areas of direct patient care, indirect patient and family support, pastoral care, and bereavement care. They also participate in advocacy, community outreach, and fundraising.

Volunteer to Help

As Acadiana’s only nonprofit hospice provider, we rely on the support and generosity of our community.

Hospice of Acadiana Foundation provides for the unreimbursed care and support services of our terminal patients and their families – in whatever capacity that may be. When you donate to Hospice of Acadiana, you can rest assured that your donation will be used to offer quality end-of-life care and support. No matter how long or how short their time is, Hospice of Acadiana's mission is always to allow all patients to truly live their final months, weeks, or days.

With your donation, we can ensure that this is a reality for every single patient that comes into our care.
